We recently commented on statement from the head of the REIQ regarding property managers being stressed.
Here is a real-life example of how we are supporting the PM’s we work with.
Last week we executed a warrant of possession for the eviction of a tenant, as normal we liaised with the police re the date and time and meet on the day with the lock smith to have the locks changed. Once this was all done and our Field Officer (FO) had ensured that the premises were secured he contacted the Real Estate agent to let them know all was done and that he was coming in to drop of the new keys. The PM commented that she was really concerned to have to go and carry out the outgoing condition report as the ex-tenant had been quite abusive.
Th PM asked our FO if he could wait for her at the property while she carried out the outgoing condition report because she did not feel safe there on her own.
Under our field protocols our FO was required to contact head office to update the situation so that we were aware of his whereabouts and for head office to re allocate his next couple of jobs to another FO so that he could remain with the PM for her security.
Approx. 2 hours later the PM had completed the outgoing condition report and was safely on her way but not before thanking the FO for waiting with her and that she was so thankful to Barclay MIS for the support and back up she had received.
This all occurred because the property in question had the Protect & Collect $66 per annum subscription in place. The Protect part of the subscription applies just as much to the PM as the owner.
Sometimes the little things make the difference.
